This homemade vegan strawberry milk is made with only four simple ingredients! Everything is natural with no added sugar. It doesn't get better than this!
We love this strawberry milk recipe, it's reminiscent of the old school Quik powder we used to drink but without all the sugar and preservatives!

Between my vegan chocolate milk and now this, I am set for stuff I used to drink as a kid! There really isn't anything quite like a cold glass of strawberry milk on a hot day. YUM.
Making your own homemade strawberry milk is so worth it. The taste is amazingly fresh and delicious due to the simple ingredients used, which also means it's much healthier than any powdered mix!
Vegan Strawberry Milk Ingredients
This homemade strawberry syrup is simply 2 ingredients plus water, it's so simple! The strawberries and dates are the perfect combo of sweet to make this fully loaded in flavor. You could also swap the dates for maple syrup if you wanted.
- Strawberries
- Dates or maple syrup
- Water
- Milk, to serve
While you can use any milk you prefer, for this recipe I used the Silk Unsweetened Coconut Milk. It's richer than others and pairs so well with the strawberry.
How To Make Homemade Strawberry Milk
When making this vegan strawberry milk recipe, you first need to create the homemade strawberry syrup and this one is the very best! Then you can save it and mix with milk for a treat any time.
- Boil the ingredients.
- Blend or just squeeze the juice out. Heat to thicken if preferred.
- Use right away (you can blend with milk until frothy in the blender) or store for later use.
- Enjoy!
Preparation Tips
- I prefer coconut milk to give this dairy free strawberry milk the richest flavor, but any non dairy milk will work.
- If you do not have a fine mesh strainer you can use a nut milk bag or a super clean smooth towel to get all the pieces out.
- This recipe was written with frozen strawberries, but fresh will also work (especially in Summer when they're in season!). However, fresh will likely take less time to cook so keep a close eye.
- Maple syrup is another great sweetener option, start with ½ cup and then add to taste.
- Use 2-3 tablespoons of the syrup for every 8 ounces of milk.
- Blend the syrup with milk in a blender for a frothy drink, or simply mix in the glass with a spoon.
Storage Tips
- Wait to mix the strawberry syrup with the milk until you are ready to enjoy it.
- Store the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days. The storage time will depend on the freshness of your strawberries.
- If you have leftover already mixed strawberry milk you can keep it in the refrigerator, but it will settle so you will have to re-mix.
Common Questions
It depends on which type of milk is used as a base. Make sure to use a plant based milk such as coconut milk, cashew milk, oat milk, or almond milk to keep it vegan.
Most store bought strawberry milk contains artificial ingredients. However, it is easy to make your own at home with fresh and simple ingredients.
Usually flavored milk contains artificial ingredients and a bunch of added sugars which makes it not very healthy. This recipes skips those and uses strawberries and dates to naturally create a sweet treat that is much healthier!

Homemade Vegan Strawberry Milk
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen strawberries
- 10 Medjool dates
- 1 cup water
Serve with:
- dairy free milk of choice , 8 ounces of milk per person
Instructions
- Put strawberries, dates and water in a medium pot, cover and bring to a boil. This takes about 5-7 minutes depending on your stove top.
- Uncover and boil for 5-7 minutes. You can keep it covered if your pot is large enough but taking the cover off will help make sure it doesn't boil over.
- Pour into a blender and blend on high until smooth. Careful because it will be hot.
- Once cool enough, pour through a fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag to get all the pieces out. Use a large bowl or even the pot you boiled it in. If using a bowl, return strained liquid to the pot and boil with the top off until it thickens to your liking. I did about 10 minutes. Allow to cool and transfer to an airtight container like a jar.
- To use right away, you can blend with milk right in the blender to get it nice and frothy, using about 2-3 tablespoons of syrup per 8 ounces of milk. Drink warm or allow to cool in the fridge.
- To store for later, place in the refrigerator. When ready to use, combine 2 tablespoons syrup for each 8 ounces of milk and mix well.
Notes
- I used frozen strawberries, but fresh will also work. Just watch it while it boils as you may need less time.
- If you prefer, you can also sub the dates with maple syrup. Start with ½ cup and test sweetness.
- Number of servings is for the syrup only.

I love strawberry smoothies and will be trying this version soon. Your photos are beautiful! Strawberries have so many health benefits, I try to eat them often.
veggiesdontbite
Thanks Christine! I love strawberries so much! This is actually a syrup using fresh strawberries and you mix it with plain milk to make a strawberry milk. But smoothies with strawberries are great too!
Rebecca
I used to love strawberry milk growing up, but now I find it far too sweet. I might have to try out this homemade version now that I've seen it!

Pink milk is my new favorite thing! I've been making Rose & Honey almond milk, but your version definitely sounds easy! I love the idea of the fruit syrup.

Yay for pink milk!

YUM!!!! I definitely remember grabbing for the strawberry milk in the cafeteria as a kid....SO good! And you're right, nothing strawberry about it! HA! Your version is way better than the artificial junk we used to drink and it's so pretty! Very similar to how we make it at home - the dates bring the perfect sweetness and flavor to it. Looks perfect, Sophia!

Thanks Mandy! It's so good and so much better for you!

Ok. I don't think I've had strawberry milk since I was a kid. And even back then it was the fake strawberry milk. This is so much healthier and better for you. I can only imagine how good it tastes!

Thank you Whitney! It's such a great copy and so good!!

Natalie | Feasting on Fruit
I was the kid who always wished she could have the strawberry milk but my mom knew it was pure sugar so nope. You are fulfilling my childhood dreams here haha! I've been excited about this one, it looked so good on IG. And I was hoping there would be dates involved! Yay, love it, it sounds perfect <3 And i am not a fan of nut milk bags either, but a strainer I can do 😀
veggiesdontbite
So funny Natalie!! My mom was pretty strict about that stuff too but we would beg for this and sometimes she just gave in so we would be quiet! LOL
Linda @ Veganosity

Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Total understatement! The only way I drank milk as a kid was with strawberry Nesquik!! Hahahaha! So horrible 😛 Now, drinking my "milk" is no problem since plant based milks are just amazing as is, but bringing back the strawberry,,,um even better!!!
veggiesdontbite
Ha!! I love it Rebecca! I loved it too. This is an awesome replacement!
