A touch of sweet and a lot of tang, finished of with a punch, this balsamic sauce is the perfect complement to so many flavors!
A while back I created this delicious tangy drizzle as part of my Portobello Black Rice Burgers and then used it again with my Arugula White Bean Polenta Bruschetta.
Lately I have really been utilizing sauces a lot as part of my recipes, as random dips for lunches and maybe even just eating them with a spoon. Some say I may be a little sauce obsessed.
I say, I just like varying levels of flavor in my food (read...sauce obsessed). So it was not a surprise when I began some work with a company asking me to create a recipe with a product of theirs, that I needed to incorporate some sort of sauce. Or two...but that's another post 😉
This Easy Miso Balsamic Sauce Is Truly Unique
The combination of flavors is so darn good. It's a little sweet with a lot of tang, finished off with a punch. I really love it and love that it pairs with so many things you'd never guess.
This sauce is the first of a multi series blog post I am doing that leads up to my final recipe. I can't wait to share the next sauce post because it pairs so well with this one, and you never would think it would! What's even better is that it has 3 ingredients. SO SO SO easy.
There really is no reason not to make this! I love hearing your comments on all my recipes, and especially love seeing your pictures, so please let me know when you try it. Instructions
- Place ingredients into a small bowl and whisk until well mixed. You can also use a small food processor or blender. This helps smooth it out if your miso is a bit chunky.

Yum, this looks SO delicious and I love how quick and easy it is too!
Meg @ Noming thru Life
What a delicious sauce! I can see myself smothering every veggie on earth with it! Or better yet, I'm definitely thinking a salad would be fantastic!
veggiesdontbite
Thanks so much Meg! Yes, smothering is key with my sauces, LOL! I love this in salad, did you see my newest Sumer Oat Salad I use it on?? SO good! Thanks for being here!
Laura
Where do you buy chickpea miso? I was trying to make another recipe but didn't have this ingredient.
veggiesdontbite
Hi Laura! I buy it at my local natural market, by the other miso. I would guess a Whole Foods or similar place has it. You can sub another miso, but I've never tried it. If you do I'd sub with white miso versus another. Let me know if you try it out!
Laura
I'll have to check whole foods again. I thought I went by all of the miso on display but didn't have time to ask. There's another location I can check. I thought I might be able to buy it online but haven't seen it. I really wanted to do a soy free version.
veggiesdontbite
Not sure! They may not but I find it hard to believe as they have so much! I have never found it online because it's cold. I would ask at whole foods!
Linda @ Veganosity
YUM! This sounds amazing. This might have to be a staple in my house. Thanks Sophia!

What a unique flavor combo! I want to try it with some steamed cauliflower. Can you sub white miso for the chickpea miso? I don't have chickpea at the moment.
I'm obsessed with sauces, too. If I had to eat nothing but saucy dishes the rest of my life, I'd be okay with that. 😉

I just saw this! So sorry! Yes, on steamed veggies it is so good! I'm not sure about the white miso as I've never tried it but I have heard it is a mellow miso like chickpea so I would guess you can! Please let me know if you try it and how it worked! Thanks so much for being here! And sauce lovers unite!

Sophia, I finally got around to making the sauce last night! I steamed some fresh cauliflower and then we drizzled the sauce over our individual potions. It was so delicious! I can't wait to have it for lunch again today!
I used white miso, and I think that overall, the sauce turned out great. I think the chickpea miso might give it a stronger salty, umami flavor, but the sauce was still amazing with plain ol' white. And it's so easy to make--I'm going to be putting it on everything from now on!
veggiesdontbite
Oh wow, that sound so good Nichole!!! I love the sauce drizzled on veggies. So happy you like it! Thanks so much for letting me know and leaving feedback!! And it's so good to know the white miso worked. I figured it would, but just be a tad milder in flavor.
Mandy
Oh, I already know that this will be addicting! I LOVE chickpea miso and maple syrup of course...I can almost taste this combo! I can't wait to see what the final recipe will be! And keep making these sauces...I'm obsessed.

I have a bunch coming soon!! You'll love them and this recipe. The flavors go so well together and it's so easy!

Sounds yum! I didn't even know you had this sauce already on your blog.....adding maple sounds great! You know I'm all about the sauces too and my 3 ingredient maple sauce is my most popular! I'll have to check out miso sometime. I'm assuming with the sweet syrup and the salty miso and vinegar that it is a salty type of sauce which usually pairs so well on Asisn foods since they are always sweet and salty, so I can't wait to see what it goes on! Whoop!!
veggiesdontbite
Thank you Brandi! It pairs with a lot. You'll be surprised how well it pairs with my next sauce and final recipe. It's one of those sauces you'll drizzle over random things! Definitely play around with some miso. So good!
Natalie @ Feasting on Fruit
Miso is like the instant yummifier in the world of savory food! I know just by looking at it that this is going to be a delicious sauce and super versatile!
veggiesdontbite
Thank you Natalie! Isn't it great?? I love chickpea miso and how much you can use it for!
Jenn
Wow! So easy and sounds amazing!!! I pretty much love everything with balsamic and combining it with maple and miso....can't wait to try!! Another winner from the Queen of Sauce!
veggiesdontbite
Thanks Jenn!! It's so so easy and so good! Hardly the queen. Just obsessed. lol. I see you're trying to join as well Love your new one!
Ana @ Ana's Rocket Ship
This looks so brilliant!!!! I love miso!!!! How long will it last in the fridge for? Cause as much as I'm sure I'll love it - it's a lot of sauce to get through on my own!!!
veggiesdontbite
Thank you Ana! Wait until you see the recipe I'm using it on. I actually doubled the recipe and only have a tiny bit left. I put it on a lot and it goes fast! Ive had it for almost a week. I wouldn't keep it longer than that although all three of those ingredients can stay in a fridge for a long time so it's probably good for much longer. Lol.
